History 

Viterbo University had its beginnings in the early scholarly tries of the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration (FSPA). Its immediate ancestor was St. Rose Normal School, completely sorted out in 1890 for get ready Sisters to instruct in grade schools.

With its status as a four-year human sciences school accomplished, Viterbo looked for accreditation by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. It was achieved in 1954 and re-affirmed in 1979.

On Sept. 4, 2000, Viterbo denoted another turning point—the change from school to college status. The change to Viterbo University formalized, in name, what had as of now happened inside.
